Charleston Trip Parent's Meeting Update

The first parent meeting for our proposed Charleston trip was very well attended. Be sure to share with your parents the update from the parent's meeting held Thursday night. It is printed on yellow paper and lists some of the fundraising activities your parents are recommending for school board approval.

Wednesday, October 22nd is a Half Day!

Students will be dismissed at 12 noon.

Fall Festival is Saturday Night!

Mrs. Hedden and Mrs. Archer hope to see you at the Fall Festival. It starts at 5pm and is over at 9pm. It is a good time for all, so bring the whole family!

So, do you think Mrs. Hedden will know that Mrs. A's class forgot to pass out the paper for the Language Arts homework assignment? I think you should do a draft for homework, and I'll give you time to do your final in class. Maybe Mrs. Hedden will never know! Robbie forgot his tooth, too. (Say that fast 3 times.)

Language Arts Update 9.29.08

Today we began our unit on Tall Tales!!! During the course of the next 2 weeks, we will look closely at "the making of a tall tale". We will read many popular tales and dabble with creating our own. Tomorrow we will complete our vocabulary cards for this unit.

Language Arts: Today we were treated to a guest speaker, George Wilson. George has first hand experience of living in Tornado Alley. He and his family were living in Midwest City, OK when the record breaking F5 tornado of 1999 swept across his city. He discussed tornado formation and safety procedures. We learned a lot!!
Homework: ABC order of spelling words/study
AR- read for 30 min.

Wednesday

Language Arts: Today we completed a graphic organizer on page 47 in our practice workbooks. We listened to the story, Volcano on a cd and turned in our spelling sentences.
Homework: Complete brochure of : A Tour of Volcanoes around the world.
Read AR books for 30 minutes

language arts : today we finished EYE OF THE STORM, it was really good.





soical studies : we got to study about Sept. 11th in our text book.
Over 3000 people got killed in the plane crash.

Social Studies: We reviewed vocabulary on landforms and studied map skills. We completed a map scale activitiy!! We estimated: Home to Denver- about 25 hours to drive, Home to NYC-about 13 hours to drive, Home to Fargo, ND- 18 hours and 20 minutes.



Math: We had to take a test on the five lessons we learned which were not hard but fun.
